Jennifer McKenna joined Boxer + Gerson after 18 years as part of the Workers’ Compensation team at the Law Offices of Vincent J. Scotto III in Martinez and San Mateo. Her move to Boxer + Gerson reflects a lifelong commitment to helping individuals who find themselves overwhelmed by complex legal systems, particularly those who feel unheard or unsure where to turn after being injured on the job.
Jennifer earned her JD from New York Law School after completing her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of New Hampshire. While in law school, she served as Chairperson of the Domestic Violence Project, where she worked directly with victims in Family Court—an experience that reinforced her belief in using the law as a tool to protect vulnerable individuals and advocate for meaningful outcomes.
After completing her education on the East Coast, Jennifer returned to her native California and passed the California Bar in 2002. She began her legal career handling Workers’ Compensation defense cases at Hanna Brophy. Although the experience gave her a strong foundation and deep understanding of the system, Jennifer soon realized her true calling was on the other side—representing injured workers.
“Once I had to argue against an elderly woman without any representation who was fighting to get her medication,” Jennifer recalls. “It felt awful.” That moment solidified her decision to dedicate her practice to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring they receive the help and benefits they deserve.
Since then, Jennifer has worked tirelessly on behalf of her clients, guiding them through a complicated and often intimidating Workers’ Compensation system. She is known for her compassion, tenacity, and commitment to making sure her clients understand their rights and feel supported at every stage of the process. Jennifer believes that no injured worker should have to face the system alone, and she takes pride in being a strong, steady advocate during some of the most difficult moments in her clients’ lives.
Outside the office, Jennifer and her family are avid skiers. With three active children, however, much of her free time is spent cheering and coaching on various sports fields.
It's a complex system. I want clients to understand that they have an advocate to help them through it.
