Boxer & Gerson Workers’ Compensation Specialist Maria Sager will be part of a three-person legal panel in February helping to launch a workers’ comp educational program for employees, employees, doctors, legal professionals and other members of the public. The program is sponsored by the Community Outreach Subcommittee of California State Bar Workers’ Compensation Executive Section, for which Sager serves as the chair.
The panel will join the Legal Aid Society Employment Law Center to present two late afternoon presentations in the northern and southern portions of the state addressing the topic of “Workers’ Compensation Basics.” Sager will represent the employee side of workers’ comp, while the employer side will be represented by Lauren Vuong of the State Compensation Insurance Fund. The third panelist will be Judge Craig Glass. The presentations will be conducted in English, but Sager will be available to help translate and to field questions from Spanish-speaking audience members.
The events will both take place at 4:30 p.m., the first on February 9 at the Ed Roberts Campus of the Legal Aid Society, 3075 Adeline St. in Berkeley. The second will be on February 23 at the Legal Aid Society of Orange County, 2101 North Tustin Ave. in Santa Ana. Both programs are free of charge, but given space limitations, RSVPs are encouraged. Call 415-864-8848 for reservation information.
Sager will also participate in subsequent presentations with different panelists at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board in Marina del Rey on March 18 and at the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce on April 29.
