Maria Sager Presents “Workers Comp 101” Seminars at Spanish-Speaking Consulates

Longtime Boxer & Gerson workers’ compensation specialist Maria Sager has committed to making monthly trips across the Bay Bridge to offer what she calls “Workers’ Comp 101” seminars for Spanish-speaking immigrants at three different consulates: Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala. The pro bono informational sessions serve as a basic introduction to workers’ comp law and are geared to helping workers understand their rights, given that immigrants can be vulnerable to unfair or even illegal practices in the workplace. Sager also uses the occasion to inform her audiences about community resources such as Centro Legal de la Raza, which offers free or low-cost bilingual support services and advocacy for low income residents and workers in the Bay Area.
