Boxer & Gerson, LLP’s longtime support of the legal advocacy organization Centro Legal de la Raza will take a deeper turn on April 7 when it co-sponsors the organization’s 47th Anniversary Gala. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the iconic Rotunda Building at the Frank H. Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland, where Boxer & Gerson maintains its offices.
Among the highlights will be a fond farewell to recently departed Executive Director Bianca Sierra Wolff and a welcome to her replacement, Paul R. Chavez. Wolff led the organization since 2009, overseeing a substantial increase in the growth of its staff and its support activities on behalf of immigrants, low-income residents, and the broader Latino community in the Bay Area.
Boxer & Gerson Partner and Centro Legal de la Raza Board of Directors Chair Maria Sager will help oversee the evening’s festivities, which will include dinner, silent and live auctions, a keynote address, and recognition of the organization’s Youth Law Academy (YLA) graduating seniors. The YLA supports young people of color in pursuing academic excellence and career opportunities in the legal field. Boxer & Gerson has provided internships to YLA members for the past five summers and will do so again in 2016.
