NOTE: BOXER & GERSON STRONGLY SUPPORTS ASSEMBLY BILL 5 AND ITS INCREASED PROTECTIONS FOR CALIFORNIA WORKERS IN THIS UNCERTAIN ECONOMY
Boxer & Gerson attorney Maria Sager was invited back to help educate stewards of the University of California’s largest employee union on their workers’ compensation legal rights in case they suffer an on-the-job injury. Sager, a certified workers’ compensation specialist, had addressed the same union, Local 3299 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), last summer in southern California. This year’s two-hour seminar was presented on July 29 at the Oakland Marriott Hotel.
AFSCME Local 3299 represents more than 22,000 employees at UC’s 10 campuses, five medical centers, numerous clinics, research laboratories and UC Hastings College of the Law. It was first chartered at UC Berkeley in 1948.
