NOTE: BOXER & GERSON STRONGLY SUPPORTS ASSEMBLY BILL 5 AND ITS INCREASED PROTECTIONS FOR CALIFORNIA WORKERS IN THIS UNCERTAIN ECONOMY
Jenny Penelope Jerez immigrated to the United States with her family from her native El Salvador as a young child. Her family settled in Pacifica, CA where she spent her early years. A native Spanish speaker, Jenny has always been driven by her desire to help individuals who, for one reason or other, cannot help themselves. Her longtime devotion to individual rights led her naturally to the study of law.
During law school, Jenny interned at the Eviction Defense Collaborative of San Francisco, defending unlawful detainer actions. During her volunteer work at Cooperative Restraining Order Clinic (CROC), she interviewed and aided victims in obtaining restraining orders and child custody orders against their abusers.
As a graduate fellow attorney for the Women’s Employment Rights Clinic of Golden Gate University, Jenny advocated for clients’ rights in the areas of employment law, wage and hour, and discrimination law. Jenny opened and managed her own law practice, Law Office of Jenny Jerez, in 2009. It focused on family law matters, alternative dispute resolution and collaborative family practice. She assisted clients on a range of family law needs, including marriage dissolution, spousal support, child support and child custody, property settlements and domestic violence restraining orders.
Prior to joining Boxer & Gerson, LLP in 2011, Jenny worked as an associate attorney in the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group, and as an associate at another applicant’s firm where she litigated many cases before the WCAB. She achieved the noteworthy designation of certified workers’ compensation specialist from the State of California in 2019.
