Jenny Penelope Jerez immigrated to the United States with her family from El Salvador as a young child. She spent her early years in Pacifica, California, where her family settled. A native Spanish speaker, Jenny has always been driven to help individuals who are unable to help themselves, and it’s this devotion to individuals’ rights that led her to study law.
During law school, Jenny interned at Eviction Defense Collaborative in San Francisco, defending unlawful detainer actions. While volunteering at Cooperative Restraining Order Clinic (CROC), she interviewed and aided victims in obtaining restraining orders and child custody orders against their abusers. As a graduate fellow attorney for the Women’s Employment Rights Clinic of Golden Gate University, Jenny advocated for clients’ rights in the areas of employment law, wage and hour law, and discrimination law.
In 2009, Jenny opened and managed her own law practice that focused on family law matters, alternative dispute resolution, and collaborative family practice. She assisted clients on a range of family law needs, including marriage dissolution, spousal support, child support and custody, property settlement, and domestic violence restraining orders. Prior to joining Boxer+Gerson in 2011, Jenny worked as an associate attorney in the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group and as an associate at a firm where she litigated many cases before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. She achieved the noteworthy designation of certified workers’ compensation specialist from the State of California in 2019.
A native of El Salvador, Jenny has spent most of her life in the Bay Area, championing individuals' rights.
