motorcycle accidents

While motorcycles are less than 2% of all registered vehicles in the United States, motorcyclists account for 8% of all traffic deaths. According to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s most recent report, motorcycle crashes in the U.S. have risen to 76,337 and motorcycle fatalities increased to 2,909. Even when the operator of a motorcycle is riding in compliance with safety rules and traffic regulations, there is a significantly increased risk of injury due to a collision with an automobile.
A frequent contributing factor to a motorcycle collision is the failure of the automobile driver to see and/or recognize the motorcycle in traffic. In two-thirds of those accidents, the driver of the other vehicle violated the motorcyclist’s right-of-way and caused the accident. Confronting daily hazards which seem trivial to motorists, motorcyclists are much more vulnerable to serious injury on the roads.

When a motorcycle collision occurs, the motorcycle rider may have the right to recover for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and any disability and disfigurement related to the motorcycle crash which were the result of the negligence of another driver. Motorcycle operators may be wrongfully blamed for the motorcycle crash by a witness or investigating official. In such instance, it is important that a thorough investigation as to the reason for the collision be conducted.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle collision, there is a need to collect all of the evidence after a motorcycle accident. Although they certainly make a genuine effort, investigators may not be looking for the unique issues affecting the motorcyclist. Accordingly, a motorcyclist seriously injured or killed must have an advocate who looks out for their interests after a motorcycle accident.

It is important to quickly hire an attorney who is experienced in handling motorcycle collision cases. Evidence such as impairments to vision, road markings, skid marks, and wrecked vehicles can be lost. By hiring an attorney, this evidence can be gathered and preserved to help prove and win your case. We have significant experience in the handling of motorcycle collisions and have the resources to effectively represent clients wherever they may be located.
