The East Bay Chapter of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association presented name partner, Michael Gerson, with the inaugural Barry J. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award at Disco Volante in Oakland on December 15. The late Mr. Williams, who passed away in 2004, was a legend in the California workers' compensation community having served as a WCAB judge, having litigated thousands of cases through the years with many DCA and Supreme Court victories, and having been a founding partner of Airola, Williams & Ringgold in San Francisco and later successors such as Williams, Otis and Paterno. Barry later worked with Michael at Boxer & Gerson LLP for approximately 5 years. It was noted by presenters that Michael, a past President of CAAA and member of the Board of Governors, has brought passion, intelligence, and a strong work ethic to the office he co-founded over 35 years ago. He has represented thousands of injured workers over the years with unparalleled skill.
