Boxer & Gerson expands its personal injury practice -- Hires New Orleans veteran litigator Gary Roth

PRESS RELEASE

January 8, 2007

Boxer & Gerson, LLP announced that it has hired New Orleans attorney Gary Roth to join the firm's personal injury practice. The addition of Roth expands the firm's capacity to represent plaintiffs in cases involving serious injury or death, construction accidents, defective products, and medical malpractice. Roth will work closely with Boxer & Gerson partner John Anton, who recently achieved a $16 million settlement for the families of two victims of the 2005 Walnut Creek gas pipeline explosion.

Boxer & Gerson, which is known for its premier workers' compensation practice, has been revamping its areas of practice over the last few years, which now include employment law, elder abuse, medical malpractice, social security appeals, and personal injury. "As part of our strategic plan to expand our personal injury practice, we have been on the lookout for another trial attorney with a great track record. Gary came along at just the right time," said managing partner John Harrigan.

Roth has significant experience litigating a wide variety of cases. He has handled multi-million dollar personal injury and medical malpractice cases, including a $12.6 million jury verdict against a driver and the state of Louisiana in an automobile injury case alleging roadway defects. He also won a $10.6 million verdict on behalf of a man injured in a slip and fall accident who developed complex regional pain syndrome, a central nervous system condition.

In addition to his extensive experience representing plaintiffs, Roth has defended major companies in multiple products liability claims. He was national counsel for Bausch & Lomb for multi-state products liability claims related to the company's Ray Ban sunglasses. He supervised the Ray Ban litigation in 17 states, with responsibilities for the selection and retention of local counsel, preparation of significant pleadings, trials, and arguments in local courts. He also successfully defended to verdict 36 personal injury cases. Prior to joining Boxer & Gerson, Roth was of counsel at Orrill, Cordell & Beary for two years and a partner at Gainsburgh, Benjamin, David, Meunier & Warshauer for eight years. Prior to that, he was a partner at Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles for eight years. He also served as general counsel to Banner Automotive, the regional automobile dealership for General Motors and Ford, and the regional counsel for Travelers Insurance Companies.

Roth earned his J.D. at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1989). He received his Bachelor's degree in Finance at Louisiana State University (1986).
