Michael G. Gerson

A founding partner of Boxer & Gerson LLP, Michael Gerson has made it his personal mission over 35 years, and that of the firm, to provide compassionate, effective, high quality representation to inured works and their families.

Michael has been a Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation by the State Bar of California since 1980. Understanding that injured workers often must also deal with Social Security, state disability, pension plans, unemployment claims, job programs, insurance, doctors, judges, and more, he shepherds his clients through the legal maze with recognized skill. Michael has litigated thousands of cases before the WCAB and has argued case before the California Supreme Court and the California Courts of Appeals. He has also litigated Longshore and Harbor Worker cases and Social Security disability matters before the SSA Office of benefit Adjudication and Review.

Selected by the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals and recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America for the past 16 years, Michael has also been recognized by his peers and San Francisco Magazine as one of Northern California’s Super Lawyers for many years. He has also been listed as one of the East Bay’s top 95 lawyers in all fields.

Additionally, Michael is Past President of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association and sits on their Board of Governors. He has been on program faculty for the UCSF Medical School Department of Occupational Medicine and has lectured before the UC Berkeley Extension Division, the Industrial Claims Association, the California Continuing Education Bar, the Conference of California Workers’ Compensation Judges, as well as many other unions and groups.

Currently, Michael serves as Chair of the State Bar Workers’ Compensation Law Advisory Commission and is also a Commissioner of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Recently, Michael was selected by the NFL Players’ Association as their recommended workers’ compensation attorney representing players on the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders, as well as any other member with a claim in Northern California, on all issues before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board of the State of California.
